Trolley Dump 5
A lovely, tree line shade street, children arriving home from school - a sweet suburban scene marred by two abandoned shopping trolleys that are more than half a kilometre away from the nearest supermarket.
Dumped shopping trolleys are one of the environmental scourges of our time. But it's so very simple to remedy - Mandatory Token Lock Trolleys for all supermarket trolleys!! This is the story of one person's campaign to make a difference.
You can help make a difference to the environment every time you shop.
1. Put your shopping trolley back into its corrall
2. Only shop where retailers use token lock shopping trolleys
3. Lobby supermarkets that don't have token lock shopping trolleys.
4. Lobby your local council or state government to make token lock shopping trolleys mandatory.
5. Ask your friends to do the above.
6. Photograph any dumped shopping trolleys and send them to me - green_shoppers-at-y7mail.com - along with a caption that says where and when the photograph was taken and we will put it here on this blog.
7. Send a copy of your photograph to the supermarket and ask them to install token lock shopping trolleys.
8. Send a copy of your photograph to any of the environmental groups on our list and ask for their support in making token lock shopping trolleys mandatory.
9. Send a copy of your photograph to your local newspaper and ask for their support for this campaign.
